The project consortium HYPOS - Hydrogen Power & Storage Solutions East Germany - was selected within the setting of the Zwanzig20 initiative of the BMBF to implement his concept of a "revolution of the hydrogen economy in East Germany" (www.hypos-eastgermany.de). By 2020, up to 45 million Euros of funds can be accessed by the projects of individual partners. Hypos pursue the following vision:
"Renewable surplus electricity shall be integrated in the energy system through innovative linking of the technology of hydrogen production with the existing infrastructure of gas pipelines and gas storage facilities. The "green" hydrogen shall be used for the conversion chemistry, for the need of electric mobility and as an energy source. Thereby not only a breakthrough for the success of the (German) energy revolution is achieved, but it can trigger far-reaching great social and economic effects.“

Along the vision, the project partners can submit their sketches in the different subject areas to achieve an efficient hydrogen economy and to enable the associated energy revolution.
The BSE is committed to implement the vision of sustainable produced methanol from hydrogen.
